Aggregate

"My Sea Walls: Artists for Oceans mural ‘Aggregate’ focuses on the issue of rising sea temperatures and climate change, and all it touches.

This piece abstracts various elements, visuals and textures that struck me during my time in St Croix, such as fragile fragments of coral, structures, drains, sea life, hurricane debris, Chaney and topographical maps of the island. These individual elements inform a landscape both above and below the water that has been deeply affected by, and will continue to see the effects of, climate change and rising temperatures, such as coral bleaching, changing sea levels, bacteria and algae growth in water, and a greater vulnerability to the increasing intensity of tropical storms and hurricanes in this area.

When all of these pressing issues are collected and shown together, we can see the bigger picture of necessary, immediate change. We are all connected and responsible in adjusting our actions and consumption habits to ensure real, positive and lasting change can occur for the natural environments we desperately depend on for survival.” - Georgia Hill
